PERPLEXING QUESTIONS: Case Study: Mrs. B.

This presentations looks at a “typical” real life case (names and circumstances
altered to maintain confidentiality) that emergency departments receive
as patients on a daily basis. Cathy Sendecki is the geriatric emergency
nurse clinician (GEN) who works in Burnaby Hospital ED (Emergency Department).

Objectives

  • To examine a case study related to perplexing questions arising from
    staff’s interpretation of caring for older adults in ED.

  • To engage thinking in what staff view as the care issues and frustrations
    when caring for older adults in the ED
